What does your week usually involve in regards to work?

I have a responsibility for providing support of IT operations to execs and staff members. The first part of my day is usually consumed prioritizing tasks that need to be addressed/resolved on an urgent basis and trying to make sure all IT-related tasks are running smoothly and applying any necessary fixes if needed. The later part of my day is taken with some projects that we have initiated recently to revamp our IT operations.

Are you a student? If so, what year of study and what field?

Yes, indeed. I am enrolled in the Software Systems Engineering Ph.D. program, and it’s my second year at the U of R.

How will this job help you in that field in the future and right now?

Since I’m doing my Ph.D., a break from the industry for 3-4 years is something that’s hard to bridge eventually. It is helping me to remain up-to-date with best industry practices and standards.

What do you like the most about your job?

The chance to experiment with different things and the responsibility that comes with it. It has worked so far; I hope this good run continues.

What do you like most about working at URSU?

The multicultural and friendly environment. Every day at URSU, there’s a chance to learn something new and exciting.

What are the biggest challenges or obstacles?

So far, it has been a smooth journey. But I guess the responsibility that comes with this position is a blessing as well as a challenge. Sort of a bittersweet thing.

How does your work benefit the students of the University of Regina and its Federated Colleges? How does it benefit the community?

I intend to contribute a few cents towards the cyber-awareness of university students.

What have you learned during your time working with URSU?

I am not as funny as I think I am.
