Why is there a plan?

A growing number of important health-care services are not covered by provincial health care. The plan is a valuable service provided by your Students' Union to fill the gaps left by provincial health care.  Even if you are covered by another plan, you can still combine it with your URSU Health & Dental Plan to further reduce your health expenses.

How much does it cost?

The fee is $191.50 for full-year coverage (Sept. 1, 2010 – Aug. 31, 2011). The breakdown is $93.60 for Health coverage and $97.90 for Dental coverage.

Who is covered?

Undergraduate students taking 9 or more on-campus Fall credit hours, and full-time graduate students taking 6 or more on-campus Fall credit hours are automatically covered.

Students who are taking fewer than 9 on-campus Fall credit hours are not automatically covered, but may enrol in during the September Change-of-Coverage Period between Sept. 7 – Oct. 5, 2010.

New eligible students starting in the Winter semester are not automatically covered, but may enrol during the January Change-of-Coverage Period between Jan. 5 – Feb. 1, 2011.

How do I Opt-out?

If you wish to opt out of the URSU Health and Dental Plan, you must do so during the September Change-of-Coverage period. You need to be able show proof of coverage by an equivalent extended health and dental plan, and you must have your Student ID number. Opt outs are easy to complete online at www.ihaveaplan.ca.
